4/20- Sometimes, my enthusiasm gets the better part of me. I like to pose my lunch before I eat, but when I opened up my dumplings, I just went for it. What you see here, and should find immediately are the red wine braised beef & blue cheese dumplings with soy-vinegar sauce. Ridiculously good. My friend said it was like prime rib in a dumpling. Same with my side of Celery root potato salad w/house-made mayonnaise, green garlic & pickles. It being the first day out, they were also treating us to green tea macaroons and a sample of spicy brownies. By spicy, think moist chocolately brownies then getting the kick from cayenne, white pepper ( I think) and ginger. I also sampled the porky mac n cheese, Chinese spiced with garlic panko crumbs. Mei, Irene and Andy are so nice and enthusiastic, you know you'll be back. Find them soon, I bet you'll be hooked! Update 10/10 - Magic Kale Salad. Not normally something I indulge in, given my carnivorous ways. But this is gooood. rice wine vinaigrette, garlic panko and topped with a poached egg to run all over. Get it. I had dumplings again, but it was dumpling surprise as I got bot only the beef mentioned above, but a sweet potato dumpling., made with sage brown butter. They force me to like non-meat dishes, dammit. And since I haven't mentioned it before, you won't go wrong treating your mouth to the Double Awesome. You get this scallion pancake, stuffed with poached and seared eggs, local greens and local cheddar. Then thank me. |
